So sweet: What a privilege it is to raise a little boy.

Raising a young guy is such a gift.

A tiny boy just has a certain charm.

He will be the most effortless love you have ever experienced.

You will always see the baby you held in your arms, even if he may be bold, daring, and as boisterous as they come when he is finally quiet and asleep in his crib.

Sometimes, just watching him might wear you out since he may have more energy in his pinky finger than you do in your entire body. Actually, there are instances when it’s best not to watch.

You will need to constantly remind him to be nice and “a little more quiet, please,” as well as to take a shower for heaven’s sake, because he may be rough, noisy, and filthy.

Your couch, chairs, tables, railings, toilets, and walls will never be the same, and you have no idea where he stores all the food he consumes.

However, you are aware that one day the refrigerator will be stocked and the cushions will remain on your couch, and the mere thought of it makes your throat turn.

He will pretend to be brave, but what he really needs in the calm seclusion of his chamber will be your kind words of consolation. And you will be the person he turns to when his heart is broken and his feelings are wounded.

Whatever sport he chooses—football, soccer, karate, or chess—it won’t matter because he will give it his best as long as he enjoys it. And in a throng, his eyes will always meet yours, regardless of how many people are supporting him. He may resemble his father exactly or he may not resemble him at all. In any case, he will find a method to show you that he is completely himself. Be sure to pay attention.

You’ll be concerned about him. that he will avoid dangerous situations and make wise choices. that despite your want to prevent him from making mistakes in the first place, he will learn from them and that he is paying attention even when it doesn’t appear like he is.

You will inspire him to be a dedicated and equal partner, to seek for help when he needs it, and to choose nice friends to walk with him through life.

You will pray that he never feels the need to compromise his principles and ideals or hide who he is in order to fit in.

Additionally, you will prepare your heart for the moment when, at least for him, another love will triumph over yours.

Because he will always have your heart.

And he will always be your little son, no matter what.

Raising a young guy is such a gift.
